The Paine will be closed to private rentals August 1–December 31, 2025 due to an exhibition and subsequent Nutcracker in the Castle presentation.
Ceremonies & Receptions
An inspired wedding day begins and ends at the Paine. Before your ceremony, gather with your bridesmaids in our charming Carriage House bridal suite. Exchange vows in one of our enchanting botanical gardens. Take unforgettable photos among the seasonal blossoms while your guests grab a cocktail and explore our estate. Continue your evening with dinner and then dance the night away in our elegant Conservatory and Carriage House.
Proposals
Pop the question in Oshkosh’s most romantic venue! Choose from any of our botanical gardens or inside the mansion. Our weddings team will discuss your ideas with you in advance and offer advice for planning the perfect proposal at the Paine. On the day of your proposal, a member of our team will greet you and ensure that your secret stays safe with us.
Ceremonies
The Paine offers a variety of elegant indoor and outdoor wedding ceremony locations for groups of 20 to 200 guests. Our flourishing gardens, historic mansion, charming Carriage House and timeless Conservatory each have unique architectural and design features to provide a lovely backdrop for your wedding day.
Photography
The Paine is a magnificent backdrop to capture memorable wedding day photos. The English country estate features a combination of enchanting architecture and acres of captivating gardens. A complimentary photography permit for the gardens is included with all ceremony and reception rentals. Mansion photography may be added on for an additional cost, and availability is dictated according to art exhibition scheduling.
For photography sessions without an event rental, a permit and scheduling two weeks in advance is required.
Wedding Venues
The Paine offers stunning settings throughout all seasons. The gardens provide a picturesque outdoor location for ceremonies. The Conservatory offers a flexible space for ceremonies and receptions. The adjoining Carriage House provides a warm space for pre- and post-dinner festivities as well as smaller events. As the centerpiece of the property, the historic mansion provides an old-world setting for intimate gatherings.

Yes. Rental privileges are available to all Paine members at the family level ($90) and above. We invite you to become a member and enjoy the many benefits of our membership program.
Wedding ceremonies are based on a one-and-a-half-hour rental. Wedding receptions vary by package. As the Paine is located in a residential neighborhood, all events lasting beyond 10:00 PM must be held indoors and comply with local noise ordinances.
Yes. A complimentary, 30-minute rehearsal held the day before your wedding is included with each ceremony reservation.
The Paine provides appropriate ceremony chairs as well as tables and chairs for wedding dinners and receptions. Our event managers are also able to share a list of local recommended vendors for your additional supply and equipment needs.
Yes! The rate for the Sunday before Memorial Day and Labor Day, as well as the day before the Fourth of July, is the Saturday rate. Memorial Day, Labor Day, Fourth of July, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day rates are the Saturday rate plus $500. We are not available for rentals on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
With many different packages available, we often host more than one rental event on a date. However, we only allow one wedding ceremony or reception at a time to take place on our property.
The Paine is open to the public 11:00 AM–4:00 PM Tuesday–Sunday. Events taking place after 4:00 PM will have private use of the grounds.
Mansion photography sessions may be reserved separately or may be added to your ceremony or reception reservation. Please see our photography session rates for details.
Upon request, a special reservation may be made so that your wedding guests may tour the mansion. An additional fee will apply. Guests may also purchase admission during our normal business hours to experience the museum and the current exhibition.
A down-payment of 50% is due at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due six months prior to your event.
Yes. A $300 security deposit (ceremony) or $500 security deposit (ceremony and reception) is required. The deposit is refundable 21 days after the event.
All food and beverages for Paine weddings are provided through our catering partners. Cakes and confectionaries may be provided by any licensed bakery. We do not allow carry-ins.
Private parking lots are located at 1313 Elmwood Avenue and 1410 Algoma Boulevard. Guests may also park along Algoma Boulevard and Congress Avenue.
Yes, a permit is required to take photos on the Paine property. A photography permit (gardens only) is included with all ceremony and reception rentals. Please see our photography brochure above for more information.
Photography sessions are based upon availability and should be reserved at least two weeks in advance. Reservations may be made up to three months in advance.
