Located in the Children’s Garden on the south side of the estate, the monarch waystation features monarchs in various stages of life cycles on display. You’ll find spaces for eggs to hatch into caterpillars, as well as areas for caterpillars to feed on milkweed as they grow, transform into chrysalises, and finally emerge as butterflies!
Help the Paine’s staff log monarch activity and growth as they progress through the life cycle. Make music, dance, and act on our outdoor stage, play in the cabin, and enjoy self-directed, garden-themed activities.
On Thursdays and Sundays, enjoy guided activities with the Paine’s education staff in the Children’s Garden.
Join us in the Children’s Garden at 10:30 AM as we set butterflies free to begin their migration! Days for release depend on butterfly readiness. Follow the Paine’s stories on Facebook for notices about releases.
The best way to experience all the activities at the Paine is by becoming a Member. You’ll receive free admission to the mansion, gardens, art exhibitions, and programs like the Wonder of Monarchs, plus discounted purchases, invitations to special events, and more.
