Patron Preview of "The Other Side" by Jennifer Angus
February 2, 2021 to February 5, 2021
In February, Madison-based artist Jennifer Angus will create a dramatic, site-specific art installation in the Paine's Main Gallery. Using exotic insects as her medium, Angus designs elaborate geometric patterns and narratives comprised of thousands of preserved specimens to explore themes of beauty, ornamentation, natural history collections, the relationship between humans and insects, and the important role insects play in ecosystems.
In lieu of an opening reception, Patrons are invited to reserve a private preview time to see the creation of the artwork in progress. Watch as Angus carefully arranges preserved insects on the walls and places sculptures within the room to create an immersive, fascinating environment. Preview entrance times are offered at 10 minute intervals February 2, 4, and 5 from 11:00 am-2:00 pm and 3:00-6:00 pm. Reservations are required.
