A Simple Toy

May 24, 2014

11:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Family Discovery Gallery

One hundred years ago children enjoyed playtime just as much as you do!  Some of the toys they played with would look similar to what you might have in your closet today but others you would not recognize.  Wooden toys were common before plastic and other materials were available.  So wood is the material Jessica Kelly-Paul picked for a “simple toy” that you can decorate and twist and spin and watch whirl around.  Can you guess what it is?

Family Programs are offered on Saturdays in the Family Discovery Gallery on a drop-in basis from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The programs are geared for children ages 5-12. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No pre-registration is required. Programs are free with admission to the Paine (free for Paine Members and Big Brothers Big Sisters participants).

Please note: The Paine has special hours and admission rates during Nutcracker in the Castle, November 16, 2018-January 7, 2019.
