No Pencils or Markers

You probably are familiar with using some of the ordinary drawing tools when you sit down to create art on a piece of paper. Today Mollie Turchan is ready to help you with an art material that you may not use as often as pencils or markers—soft pastels. These sticks of pigment lay a velvety-smooth line of vibrant color across a paper. You might also want to try a little blending of colors using special tools like a tortillon or a sponge blender. Then with a brush and a few strokes of some amazing glaze, add a touch of shine and sparkle to your composition.
Family Programs are offered on Saturdays in the Family Discovery Gallery on a drop-in basis from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The programs are geared for children ages 5-12. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No pre-registration is required. Programs are free with admission to the Paine (free for Paine Members and Big Brothers Big Sisters participants).
