Who Nests Here?

June 7, 2014

11:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Family Discovery Gallery

You might find a bird’s nest in a field, a marsh or the woods, a park or even in your own backyard.  Some birds make a nest on the ground while others like to build way up high in a tree.  Look around the Paine gardens and listen and look for bird habitat and homes.   Then, working with Danielle Lokken outside at our Shade Garden field station, you can make a pretend bird’s nest complete with a mom and her little ones.  You won’t hear any “chirps” from these tiny birds, but you will have a charming decoration to take home!

Family Programs are offered on Saturdays in the Family Discovery Gallery on a drop-in basis from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The programs are geared for children ages 5-12. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No pre-registration is required. Programs are free with admission to the Paine (free for Paine Members and Big Brothers Big Sisters participants).
