Black on Brilliant
September 27, 2014

Family Discovery Gallery
When you think of colors, you might not consider black. In the early 1900’s, artist Henri Matisse decided black was just what his paintings needed for a new bold look. He used it alone on pure white paper and he painted with it on canvas along with every brilliant color he could make. In our Family Discovery Gallery, meet Mollie Turchan and try painting with bold black paint on vivid, colorful paper and you might just think the dramatic effect is impressive.
Family Programs are offered on Saturdays in the Family Discovery Gallery on a drop-in basis from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The programs are geared for children ages 5-12. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No pre-registration is required. Programs are free with admission to the Paine (free for Paine Members and Big Brothers Big Sisters participants).
