Exhibitions
Suzanne Rose’s residency with the Paine has culminated in two exhibitions. The first exhibition, “Meditations on Oshkosh,” featuring twelve new works, is presented in the Paine’s Mears Gallery on the second floor of the mansion. The second exhibition, “Portrait of a Community,” featuring 22 new works, is on display in the atrium of Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh. Both exhibitions will be on display through October of 2009.
Suzanne Rose: Meditations on Oshkosh
Mears Gallery,
Paine Art Center and Gardens
Through October 2009
Since September of 2008, Suzanne has spent numerous days in Oshkosh photographing features and scenes throughout the community. These many photographs are shown online in her web journal. For the exhibition in the Paine’s Mears Gallery, Suzanne chose a dozen highlights to display for Paine visitors.
Suzanne Rose: Portrait of a Community
Atrium, Mercy Medical Center
500 S. Oakwood Road
Through October 2009
As part of her residency, Suzanne has photographed people who work at Mercy Medical Center, including doctors, nurses, and staff. These “portraits” feature only the hands of the professionals along with a meaningful item related to their work. The photographs are presented along with photos of hands of other “caregivers” in the community, such as an artist, historic preservationist, art curator, horticulturalist, college instructor, and religious leader. The exhibition weaves together the missions of Mercy Medical Center and the Paine Art Center and Gardens, as well as draws attention to other organizations and people in the community who care for our wellbeing.
